The art of decorative arts and design coincided with the start of the 20th century and through mutual exchanges in Europe and the United States. The Industrial Age and dynamic technological advancements paved the way for influential and beneficial interior decorations. New Expansion into Japan, China, India and Southeast Asia also propelled this experience. This course will focus on Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Streamlining, Modernism and Mid-Century Modern. Firms such as Dirk Van Erp, Tiffany Studios, School of Nancy, Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, Nakashima Woodworkers, and Charles and Ray Eames will be discussed. This course can benefit the collector just as much as the interior designer with an understanding of the complex imagery, history, and interpretation. 3 SESSIONS
