Join Brookdale’s two favorite scholars, Dr. Christopher Bellitto and Rabbi Brooks Susman for a memorable visit to the unique home for the Met’s vast medieval holdings. Elevated on a hill offering spectacular views of the Hudson River, The Cloisters recreate the experience of a Gothic monastery, incorporating architectural features of a French cloister, replete with tapestries, stained glass, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts and intricate gardens. Noted philanthropist John D. Rockefeller Jr. donated the Cloisters’ most famous piece, the Unicorn Tapestries. We’ll leave the Middle Ages behind and head to Arthur Avenue, the “Little Italy” of the Bronx to immerse ourselves in Italian American culture and of course, food! Time on you own following lunch will be provided to explore the neighborhood and indulge in a special treat or two.
