Course Description

Court interpreters work in a variety of legal settings, such as attorney-client meetings, preliminary hearings, arraignments, depositions, and trials. Medical interpreters help patients communicate with doctors, nurses, and other medical staff.

Course Outline

All of the following courses must be completed. 

  • Community Interpreting (3 classes)
  • Medical Interpreting Level 1: Simultaneous Mode and Sight Translation (4 classes)
  • Medical Interpreting Level 1: Consecutive Mode (4 classes)
  • Medical Interpreting Level 2: All 3 Modes (8 classes)
  • Judicial Interpreting Level 1: Simultaneous Mode and Sight Translation (4 classes)
  • Judicial Interpreting Level 1: Consecutive Mode (4 classes)
  • Judicial Interpreting Level 2: All 3 Modes (8 classes)

Prerequisites

Complete Introduction to Interpreting and pass oral exam.
