Course Description

This course emphasizes the importance of accurate estimating and summarizes the estimating process and the steps in developing an estimate. It also defines the purpose of cost control methodology, explains how to perform simple cost analysis, and covers the project manager’s role in controlling cost and tracking rework cost.

Course Outline

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to do the following:

1.  Define cost control and identify the purpose of a cost control system.

2.  Define budgeted (estimated) cost, actual cost, and projected cost.

3.  Define the importance of accurate estimates.

4.  Explain the project manager’s role in controlling cost.

5.  Describe what a reporting system is and how it functions in a cost control system.

6.  Explain the process of making a cost analysis.

7.  Perform a simple cost analysis.

8.  Describe how to track and document the causes and costs of rework.
